Firm Profile

M2 Landscape Architecture and Arboriculture is located in historic downtown New Westminster, the heart of Metro Vancouver. The firm was established in 2011 and is a second-generation landscape architectural consultant company with over 50 combined years’ experience. Principal Landscape Architect is Meredith Mitchell, M.B.C.S.L.A., M.C.S.L.A., Cert. ISA. Meredith is registered as a Landscape Architect in the Provinces of British Columbia and Alberta, and in Washington State.

M2 Landscape Architecture is the continuation of DMG Landscape Architects, a Landscape Architecture Firm in business in the lower Mainland since 1982. When DMG ended in 2012, M2LA maintained the relationship with past and on-going projects and clients that were a part of the success of DMG.

Our Legacy

David Mitchell practiced Landscape Architecture in British Columbia for forty years, as a registered member of the BC Society of Landscape Architects. He was a founding partner of DMG Landscape Architects, and became Senior Consultant for M2LA in 2012.

David has left a wonderful legacy in the thousands of projects he designed and managed in BC and Western Canada. As well as his passion for the land, he had a great interest in talking to and helping young people joining the profession. He always found time to help new designers and worked with many over the years, watching them develop their own careers.

Sadly, David passed away in September 2016. His presence is greatly missed but his legacy is forever with M2.

What we do

M2LA provides complete landscape and arboricultural design and planning services, including construction and post construction review for all scales of developments. M2LA carries professional liability and comprehensive insurance. We work with both the private and public sectors in planning and designing landscape development for urban, institutional, multi-family & private residential, commercial, industrial, and recreational developments.

M2LA has worked in every municipal area of Metro Vancouver, throughout British Columbia and into Alberta. We are familiar with the various civic government landscape development approval requirements and have frequently worked with municipal planning and landscape staff in the successful permitting of many projects.

M2LA can act as Prime Consultant or work in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team. All of our projects are approached with a passion for the art of design tempered with an understanding of the needs of our clients especially:

consideration of necessary and desired elements in design development,
attention to budgets and deadline requirements,
understanding and meeting municipal requirements,
ability to coordinate all the requirements of a complex development
seamless coordination with both landscape architecture and arborist requirements.
